Yes, our facility is inspected by the FDA and the Texas Department of Health.
What are minimum and maximum batch sizes?
Each customer is different and we can help you with cost-effective batch sizes. Our production capability depends on the type of product.
- Cosmetics: 20 gallons minimum to 1200 gallons maximum
- Drinks and Beverages: 100 gallons minimum to 7000 gallons maximum
Can you help me with my formula?
Absolutely! Our compounding chemists are great resources for new raw materials, natural ingredients, natural extracts. We specialize in custom formulations.
Is there a charge for custom formulations?
Yes there is a small R&D deposit that is required before we start on your project. The fee varies depending on the project. OTC products require extensive testing of ingredients and have higher R&D fees. Because we want a successful partnership with you, many development fees are credited to the first purchase order. What measures do you take with my intellectual property?
We will sign a non-disclosure agreement protecting your intellectual property.
I already have a formula. Will Coats Laboratories manufacture it for me?
Yes, we will review your formula, help with raw ingredients, and explain any testing and validation requirements. We would be happy to let you talk to our R&D department before producing your product to answer any of your questions.
Can we tour Coats Laboratories?
Yes, we are proud of our facility and love to show if off. Because of privacy issues, we are unable to give tours every day. Please contact us to schedule your personal tour.
Will Coats help me with labels and bottles?
Yes we have a purchasing department that is in touch with the largest component manufacturers in the world. We can help you find the container of your choice.
Although we do not have a graphic artist on staff, we use several outside vendors that are experts in cosmetic, personal care, and OTC labeling. We can put you in touch with them.
What are the lead times for a project?
This varies project to project. Cosmetics are normally determined by the availability of raw ingredients. Our OTC’s require testing that may take several months. Once we know the specifics of your project, our R&D department, Purchasing department, and Production staff work together to give you an accurate lead time.
